Language(s): English
Helion & Company publishing produces specialized military history books. Part of the “Middle East at War” series, Lebanese Civil War, volume 3 (third of a five part series) book covers a short period from 4 to 7 June 1982 known as the “Moving to war”. The publication is 96 pages of full color, black & white photographs, diagrams as well as artist illustrations.
The book starts out with abbreviations that will be found in the following pages and a map of Lebanon showing the control zones. Text and illustrations are laid out in chronological order covering all the groups on both sides of the conflict.
Each section goes into deep detail on the environment starting with a countdown to war with “Lebanonization”, , “Operation Pines” and the “Rise of Hezbollah” which produced future leaders in the future Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp. Detail breakdown of Israeli intelligence about Lebanon with diagrams of organization of equipment. There are numerous photos (color and B&W) of the battlefield showing personnel and equipment in action during the lead up to war. Mid way through the book there are color illustrations of military equipment including armor, naval ships, missiles and multiple aircraft types of jets and helicopters for all sides in the conflict. Throughout the book there are maps and diagrams of battle fronts.
I highly recommend this book for reference on equipment and battlefield conditions during this conflict. I would like to thank Casemate and IPMS/USA for this book to review.

I have been building models since at least 8 years old and with a brief break after high school, model building started again late in college. My preferred subjects are aircraft of all eras and scales but a majority of my builds are 1/48 scale. I am the son of a USAF navigator who flew tactical airlift in Vietnam then his last 8 years he served at Altus AFB where he retired. My love of aircraft comes naturally and try to build subjects that I have a personal connection to. My day job parallels the hobby where I design full flight simulators ranging from small corporate jets, military fighter jets to the C-17. I hold a commercial pilot certificate and fly as a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol. I really enjoy flying cadets, passing on the love of flight and inspiring future aviators.
