To get some idea as to what products are offered by plusmodel, select the Catalogue option on the home page. The Catalogue lists hundreds of items that can be used as stand-alone models or items, such as the Ladder being reviewed, to enhance a model. My modeling experience with plusmodel products includes only a dozen or so of the aftermarket-type items, and I have been pleased with each of those items.

The ladder, in 48th scale, is packaged in a sturdy cardstock box measuring 5 inches by 3.5 inches. The box top shows an F-106, with the canopy open, and with the ladder in place, awaiting the pilot. The backside of the box serves as the “instruction sheet”. The illustration shows that there are 14 parts included in the box.

There are nines “steps” or ladder rungs, two ladder frames, and they are not symmetrical. The frame that will be on the “forward” side of the ladder when attached to the aircraft, has a much larger handrail than the aft frame. I found that there was a small amount of flash on the parts, but it is a simple process to remove it with a medium grit sanding stick.

Assembly is straight-forward, and the instruction illustration is handy and clear. Be sure to reference it frequently. Super glue and the liquid that instantly sets up the glue is an excellent tool. Assembly began with the ladder steps, two at the bottom and two at the top being glued to one of the ladder frames, making sure that the step was properly aligned before the instant-set was applied. The remaining steps were then attached and as soon as the glue set up, the remaining ladder frame was attached. There are a few other fiddly bits to attach but assembly is easy, and rather rapid.

This product is recommended for its sturdy packaging, which includes a color image of an F-106 with ladder attached, and a clear “how to assemble” illustration on the back of the box. Assembly is easy and the parts fit well. Thanks to Plusmodel for the opportunity to review this product.
