Kit

The kit is made up of injection molded gray plastic parts. All the parts were numbered and bagged, matching the corresponding numbers on the assembly instructions located on the back of the box. The details were in excellent condition, with no defects. Minimal or no flashing on the details and a small sheet of brass etched details.

Construction

In construction, I started with the radiator and added the pulley and belt details, transmission bell housing and added detail. Then I added the engine block and accessories. Note: pre-painting is strongly advised. There were no problems with the assembly of most of the details of this model. The problems I encountered were the water hoses from the top of the radiator to the engine block. I replaced it with copper wire formed to fit the location. The other problem was the line from the L.H. fuel intake to the R.H. manifold of the engine, as the diagram was confusing to me. It became apparent to me that during assembly of the water hoses to the engine block, I did not provide the proper sequencing, which resulted in a do over.

Painting

I deviated slightly from the paint scheme on the plans, and used Model Master Sea Gray instead of the recommended Steel color. I also painted the hose and belts Black. (Not mentioned in the instructions)

Conclusion

The engine is a stand-alone unit, as per the instructions. The kit is a good looking model and easy to assemble. I will eventually take it off the scratch built stand and place it in a vehicle. Note: No stand was supplied with the kit.

Thanks to Dragon-USA for providing the review sample and the IPMS crew for allowing me to review and build this kit.
