Ultracast offers a whole new and unique assembly for the front of your Focke Wulf A/F. The addition of the external weights is quite common on late war Focke Wulf aircraft. Until now they have not been available in model form without the modeler having to scratchbuild them.

This set is packaged in a small zip lock bag on the cardboard backing. The resin is typical Ultracast, molded in a light caramel colored with no blemishes anywhere. There are no pour blocks on the blades. Minimal flash is present on the spinner and cooling fans. Clean up will be easy with a new hobby blade.

The external weights are flawlessly executed and will add dramatically to the spinner assembly. The blades are thin and perfectly shaped. No pour blocks on the blades means that none of the detail will be lost on the pitch change mechanism.

Two cooling fans, one with twelve vanes and the other with fourteen vanes, are included so you can use this set on any Focke Wulf A/F. The pour blocks will be easy enough to clean up. Care will have to be taken on the fan blades but they should come out quite easily. The nice thing about the fans is that the angle of the blades is correct in comparison to the kit ones which have a flatter pitch to them.

The Hasegawa spinner is too pointed and lacks detail. Ultracast’s replacement has the proper shape and has fastener detail on the spinner that is lacking on the kit spinner. The blade openings are deep and accurately shaped. The grips will easily allow the modeler to fit the prop blades. It will be up to the modeler to set the pitch of each blade though.

Finally someone has offered this version of blade. I for one am glad that it is Ultracast. They are well known for their quality and meticulous research. This set is another jewel from Ultracast. Finally I’ll be able to build some late war A-9s that I’ve avoided for sometime.

Highly recommended
