Decal Set Package

For nearly fifty years, the Bell UH-1 Iroquois was the workhorse of the Army, especially during the Vietnam War. It has also served in countless countries, in countless colors and configurations, doing everything imaginable. Now we have Sikorsky’s UH-60 Blackhawk taking over that role in even more configurations and colors worldwide, and performing even more varied missions.

Our very own US Army Cobra driver, Floyd Werner, has given us the ability (need) to build up our helicopter stash again. He offers the means of modeling twenty-six separate UH-60’s in use by the US Army. As with his previous decal issue, Floyd provides detailed info and great side views of each of the subject variants, along with notes covering anything particularly different about that tail number. There are six separate color pages showing all of the markings available. The earliest is a UH-60A of the 57th Med Detachment from the 1983 Grenada invasion, while the latest is a UH-60L of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, which was used to transport WWE stars when they visited Afghanistan last year. Two are UH-60A’s from the 2nd ACR in Desert Storm. In other words, there’s a great variety in markings available. And, regardless of your scale, he makes available markings for at least 26 separate aircraft. In WW35-01, you get both the aircraft marking sheet and the stencil sheet. If the stencils are all you need, then seek out 35-02. The same goes for 48-03. At $14, you get both the markings and stencils. Stencils only, 48-04 is $5. 72-02 contains only the markings. You would need a microscope to see all of the stenciling in 1/72nd. The stencil placement guide covers every stencil that has ever been put on a Blackhawk.

Available decal sheets and their prices:
WW35-01 $16.00
WW35-02 $ 6.00
WW48-03 $14.00
WW48-04 $ 5.00
WW72-02 $12.00

The decals are some of the best I have ever seen, and are produced by Cartograf in Italy. The colors are crisp, registration is perfect, and there is no bleed-through beneath the white markings. If you go on Floyd’s web site, he has photographs of many of the aircraft depicted on the sheets. Floyd continues to offer modelers a quality product for their modeling projects.

My thanks to Floyd Werner and IPMS/USA for the review decals.
