Attack Aircraft of The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps by Detail and Scale Aviation Publications was published 17 June 2022. This is the fourth publication by Detail & Scale that covers aircraft flown by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps from the end of WWII through the deployment of the AV-8B Harrier II.

The book covers 13 aircraft – Vought AU-1 Corsair, Grumman AF-2 Guardian, Martin AM Mauler, Douglas AD / A1 Skyraider, North American AJ Savage, Douglas A2D Skyshark, DouglasA3D / A-3 Skywarrior, Douglas A4D / A-4 Skyhawk, North American A3J / A-5 / RA-5C Vigilante, Grumman A2F / A-6 Intruder, Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II, Hawker SiddleyAV-8A / AV-8C Harrier and the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II.

With 235 pictures and 11 Illustrations this volume is loaded with details and the development of the aircraft cited above. The book goes into great detail on each aircraft variants, weapons load outs for each aircraft and much more. This work is a great reference for the model builder.

The author is Bert Kinzey who is also the founder of Detail & Scale Series of publications. Bert was an officer in the US Army for eight years and then as a civilian spent a storied career as a subject matter expert on air threat and world airpower with the Department of Defense. As both a military officer and a civilian, Bert often briefed military and political leaders of the United States and other nations on subjects related to air power, the threat and air defense. His publications were the first to focus on the many details of aircraft to include cockpits, weapon systems, airframes and much more. This is all very evident in reading this book.

I highly recommend this book for any modeler building a model of any aircraft referenced in this publication and for aviation enthusiasts in general.

I would like to thank Detail & Scale and IPMS USA for the opportunity to review this book.
