Agusta Westland A109 and the Belgian Air Force A109 Display Team
HMH Publications has released another installment of the Duke Hawkins series and it is being distributed in the US by Casemate Publishers.
The 24th installment of the series is devoted to the Agusta Westland A109 helicopter.
In particular this book includes images of helicopters serving with the Belgian Air Force Demonstration Team, plus images of Italian, New Zealand, South Africa and British examples.
The book is organized in the following sections: Types, Belgian Air Force (BAF) Demonstration Team, Forward Fuselage, Fuselage, Main Rotor, Tail Rotor, Cockpit, Main Landing Gear, Vertical Tail, Horizontal Tail, Maintenance and Action.
Most of the sections are of the walk-around type, focusing on a specific area of the airframe. The Maintenance section includes lots of interior details (great for those modelers that like to have open panels in their aircraft) and the BAF Demonstration Team and Action sections have fantastic shots of the aircraft during demonstration or operation flights. In particular the action shots of the BAF team are truly amazing.
All pictures are in full color and each image has a caption so there is never any doubt of what you are observing -great for super-detaling your model!
Given the wide service of this aircraft (over 30 countries), there is little reference material available for it and this book fills in a gap in the reference library of most aviation aficionados and scale modelers.
Highly recommended.
I would like to thank HMH Publications, Casemate Publisher, and IPMS/USA for the review sample.
