Red Fox Studio manufactures 3D acrylic resin instrument panels and details for aircraft cockpits in several scales and are now available through the AMMO website for purchase. The parts in this scale are quite detailed for their small size and are even pre-painted! The placement of these bits is easy- one simply has to separate the part from the cardstock and glue it in place using any white glue you have on hand- including that created by AMMO. The parts can also be washed with AMMO enamel or acrylic paints, and varnished with acrylic based varnishes. In addition to adjusting each cockpit detail to the correct scale, each piece features a hyper-realistic finish on the instruments, gauges, and displays, imitating the reflection of the glass bezels.

The colors on the parts seem to be pretty dead on to what is called out in the Tamiya instructions for the kit. These accessories will save you considerable time and painting steps when detailing the interiors of your models, providing a much more realistic finish than anything I could ever attempt by hand. The bits are delicate so care needs to be taken when detaching them to prevent breaking them in half. The kit part details must be sanded off first. I then airbrushed the Schwartzgrau background color before attempting to attach the resin to the parts. I used Gator’s Grip Original Blend to attach them and they are held fast and hold up to handling.

Easy to use, and greatly detailed- I heartily recommend adding these parts to your base kit to take your cockpit details up to the next level. I am grateful to AMMO by Mig Jimenez and IPMS-USA for this review sample.
