I have heard of Tru-Color Paints probably a year ago by now. They have an extensive line of railroad and car paints and they are continuously expanding their military line (aircraft, naval, armor). I’ve heard good things about them and I was interested to try them out. But honestly, the price was putting me off a bit. When I had the opportunity to review a few free samples, I jumped to it.

This review covers Tru-Paint TCP 1445 RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau, TCP-1446 RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb #1, TCP-1447 RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb #2, TCP-1448 RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb #3, TCP-1449 RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb #4 and TCP-1449 RAL 7008 Gray Green.

When you hear the name Eduard in modeling circles you immediately think of their superb photo etch parts, or maybe their mask sets or even their top of the line plastic kits. But you don’t usually think of Art. Oh sure, they have some great looking box tops but actual art?

Yep, some of those box tops are actually available as large size posters such as this one.

The overall size of the poster is 23 3/8” long by 16 ½” wide while the image itself is 21 5/8” x 11 ½”. A nice size to put up on your model room wall and would look good in a nice matt and frame.

Print quality is first rate with the colors looking like the box art. One thing I was interested to see is the swastika as it is missing from the box top but is on the poster.

If you like to collect aircraft art you would do well to take a look at Eduard’s growing line of posters.

Thanks to Eduard and IPMS/USA for the review kit.

Coastal Kits
MSRP
$9.00

Coastal Kits is based in Lancashire, UK, and began marketing their own range of display bases at the end of 2012. Since that time, their business has grown and concentrates almost exclusively on printed display bases for just about any type of model you ever wanted to build in just about any scale. Looking thru the offerings on their website is almost overwhelming there are so many choices, and they will even custom-make bases.

The display bases are manufactured from 3mm Foamex board, which feels like a rigid mousepad. The material is basically a waterproof plastic, with a printed display on one side. The pre-printed image is a high-quality image on a laminated, wipeable matt vinyl surface which, according to Coastal Kits will not raise or bubble like it was printed on paper.

This is an art print poster of the Box art of He 280 kit Eduard released recently.

Summary

This is a fantastic print which I will be framing and placing on my office wall. The print is on high quality paper and has a fantastic image of the He 280 which is one of my favorite aircraft.

Now I have the print I will be also buying the model kit to place next to the print once completed.

I would highly recommend this print and the others in the series as they are of the best quality and look great in a model room, man cave or office.

Thanks go to Eduard for providing this Print to review and IPMS USA for allowing me to review it for them

Minicraft Model Kits
MSRP
$2.99

Minicraft recently released a second decal scheme for their Beech Bonanza F-33 kit. Along with the Bonanza model, this display stand was looking for a home and a kind word on the IPMS Review Corps list.

This stand is packaged in an industrial strength clear plastic bag with a cardboard fold-over label stapled to the bag top. There are four parts of clear plastic, attached to the sprue with somewhat discrete attachment stubs. With care the parts can be removed with minimal stub marks left. These can be polished out, or the base can be painted.

The parts fit easily together. The vertical shaft slides into the round base and fits securely without glue. This shaft can be cut down to any desired length. Make sure you insert the solid end of the shaft into the base. The top has a hole drilled for the ball joint. Remember this also if shortening the shaft. I left mine as is.

Coastalkits from the UK has produced a line of model display bases in various national insignia designs. This particular design is a replica of a USAAF insignia (white star on blue background) circular cutout. The diameter is 200 mm (about 7&3/4 inches) and is suitable for small to medium sized 1/72 scale aircraft. Other insignia designs include Royal AF, Royal Australian AF, Hellenic AF, French AF, Soviet AF, and Canadian AF, along with some scaled airfield designs.

The resolution of the printing is excellent, and provides an eye-catching background setting as an added presentation touch for your latest masterpiece at contests, or in your display case at home. The artboard core of the base makes for a lightweight addition to your contest take-along accessories that will make your model stand out from those that are simply placed on top of the standard entry paperwork.
