Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2Published: June 11, 2020 This edition of MMP’s “Single” covers the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2, and anyone familiar with this series will know the format. For those who are not, these are very “to the point” booklets, homing in on a particular variant of an aircraft. Upon opening the narrow, softcover book, one is immediately presented with several pages of scale plans (in 1/72 and 1/48). No introductory history… more |

Wooden Airfield BasePublished: May 21, 2020 As an aircraft modeler, I was unfamiliar with this company that is primarily focused on 1/35 resin armor accessories. According to the box inserts and website, they are under new management and are expanding the current line. This base fit right into my area of focus, so I was pleased to have a chance to write a review. The first thing I noticed was how hefty and sturdy the packing box… more |

Lockheed P-38G-15-LO LightningPublished: April 30, 2020 One of the latest in MMP’s “Single” series covers the P-38G-15-LO, and with the relatively new Tamiya 1/48 kit of the P-38 F/G the timing of this release is perfect. The idea behind this series of books (more like booklets) seems to be to get right to the point and show scale plan views, photos, profiles, etc. Upon opening the narrow, softcover book, one is immediately presented with… more |

Scale Aviation Modeller International Magazine, January 2020Published: April 30, 2020 Scale Aviation Modeller is one of several magazines I used to subscribe to over the years, but have pared back that list and it was refreshing to once again see the content of this magazine. The quality of the magazine is just as I had remembered – Nice, glossy stiff covers and equally glossy, but thinner, content pages. Excellent quality photos and detailed articles are consistent… more |

Scale Military Modeller International Magazine, December 2019Published: April 30, 2020 Having ‘gone digital’ over the last several years, I have severely curtailed my physical magazine subscriptions. As a result, this title was entirely new to me and thus was very keen to review it and have a chance to read through another publication. Despite the above commentary, Scale Military Modeller International has been around for a while. The quality of the magazine is like many… more |

Morane Saulnier MS.406C1: France 1940Published: January 30, 2020 MMP keeps coming up with new and interesting series in their catalog of books. This “Camera On” series is not restricted to aircraft but presents essentially photo albums dedicated to different types of equipment (appearing to be limited to WW2 subjects from what I can gather). This nicely produced, softcover book is typical of MMP’s publication quality. That is to say everything has a… more |

PZL P.11aPublished: January 27, 2020 This was the first time I have had a chance to read/review one of MMP’s “Single” series books. The idea behind these books (more like booklets) seems to be to get right to the point and show scale plan views, photos, profiles, etc. This volume covers the Polish WW2-era fighter PZL P.11a, predecessor to the more numerous PZL P.11c. Upon opening the narrow, softcover book, one is… more |

Junkers D.1 Landing GearPublished: May 18, 2019 A newer addition to Scale Aircraft Conversions large line of metal landing gear is this set for the Wingnut Wings Junkers D.1. Like most of SAC’s sets, this is meant as a drop-fit replacement for the kit’s plastic landing gear. The set comprises of both main gear legs, the landing gear “wing” between the legs, and the main axle. All are made of sturdy, white metal. I could see… more |

Sopwith Triplane Landing GearPublished: May 18, 2019 Yet another addition to Scale Aircraft Conversions large line of metal landing gear is this set for the Wingnut Wings Sopwith Triplane. Like most of SAC’s sets, this is meant as a drop-fit replacement for the kit’s plastic landing gear. The set comprises of both main gear legs, the landing gear “wing” between the legs, main axle, tail skid, and tail skid adjusting piston. All are made… more |
