Model Art, #813, Tamiya Color Guide

Published:
Company: Model Art

Basically, this is a catalog of the Tamiya Paint line in a soft bound, in a ninety-six page format. The book is in Japanese; however there are English captions under the paint chips. The book is divided into sections of colors for cars, metallic’s, clear coats, primary colors and AFV’s/aircraft/ships by nationality.

Also included are photo instructions of masking techniques for those modelers who don’t have an airbrush but rely on hand brushing and spray cans. They are broken down into aircraft, armor and ships. As an added plus there are pictures of their fine line of tools, tape, weathering kits.

This book would be very welcome to any modeler who uses Tamiya paint. It’s a handy reference to have on hand before going down to the local hobby shop or ordering mail order… more

This edition’s articles are:

  • Page 18, A two page spread of applying decals.
  • Page 20, A six page article on painting the Tamiya 1/48th F-16C Aggressor.

Top Drawings 8 Sd.Kfz. 161 Panzer IV Ausf. J

Published:
Book Author(s): By Krzystozt Mucha, Scale Drawings: Arkadiusz Wrόbel, Color Profiles: Damian Majsak
Company: Kagero Publishing

Kagero has come up with another winner if you’re a Panzer IV nut, like I am. The book is soft cover with heavy stock and full color art on the front and back covers. This book covers the Panzer IV J. The strength of the book isn’t the text, unless you read Polish. The 1/35 scale drawings are beautiful, showing all the angles of the tank, in all twenty seven pages. The drawings do have some text in English, so you know what variant you’re looking at. The reader does know which production version is being represented. Included are exploded drawings of the different muffler systems, return rollers, idler wheels, road wheel assemblies, treads, muzzle brakes, cupolas, and armor skirts. There are also four pages of 1/48 and 1/72 scale drawings. Thirty one pages in all. Add to this four pages… more
